The introduction of the new and limited edition Bonabyrd reflects as much of Joe’s unique personality as a player as it does his incredible ear for tone. Like Joe, the Bonabyrd is steeped in legacy and in proven concepts of design that pay homage to the simple truth that some things dont need to be fixed. Custom Bucker PAF pickups and classic Les Paul weight and feel for example. The Gibson Custom Joe Bonamassa Bonabyrd is a limited run of 100 models personally signed by Joe.
“We’ve been working on this guitar for 5 years. The original model had a sunburst top, flame Maple and a single pickup and I played that for many years. Then we came up with this Pelham Blue two pickup version and I think for what it is this more of a versatile guitar. You get a front pickup – they howl! This Bonabyrd is definitely as advertised – it’s a hybrid Les Paul body with a wrap tailpiece and a reverse Firebird neck. So, they came out really good and I’m real proud of my association with Gibson Custom Shop – they did a great job on these” – Joe Bonamassa
